Our Pastor

Reverend Marvin E. Wiley, a native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, is the pastor of the Rock of Ages Baptist Church located in Maywood, Illinois. He made history at Rock of Ages Baptist Church in March 1991 becoming the second pastor in forty years. The Church has experienced spiritual, numerical, and financial growth under his dynamic leadership. Pastor Wiley has several full-time staff members to carry out Church business and operations. The Church' ministries are organized for service under the church’s five cornerstones, exaltation, edification, evangelism, extension, and equipping.

Due to the phenomenal growth the Church has encountered under the leadership of Pastor Wiley, a multi-million dollar Worship Service Facility was constructed at 1309 Madison Street to the glory of God and service of mankind.

Under his leadership, a 501(C) 3 organization, Vision of Restoration, Inc. was organized Vision of Restoration provides education and economic development, mental/social services and career development and enhancement for the community. Under Pastor Wile's innovative leadership, a Spiritual Growth and Development Center – a four-level, multi-million dollar facility opened in November 2004. This 40,000 square foot edifice offers many additional resources for worship, education and business.

His ability to teach and preach has carried him across the country for leadership, stewardship and evangelistic services. Since coming to Maywood, Pastor Wiley has continued to be concerned about evangelism both on a national, state and local level. He served on the executive committee of the corporate board of directors of the Sunday School Publishing Board of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. He has also served on numerous civic and community boards during the course of his ministry.

In March of 2017, Rev. Wiley celebrates his 26th Anniversary as the Pastor of the Rock of Ages Baptist Church; as well as forty years in the Ministry. In recognition of his contributions to the communities that he serves, he was recognized in March of 2006 by the Village of Maywood with an Honorary Street Sign that spans the corners of 12th & Madison through 14th & Madison Streets. Pastor Wiley was also recognized in the 2006 inaugural edition of Who' Who in Black Chicago - a publication showcasing the achievements of influential African American leaders in the Chicagoland area. Most notably, Pastor Wiley was inducted into the Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia on April 3, 2008.

Rev. Wiley also served the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, as Pastor from 1988-1991. He also served the Pilgrim Baptist Church, Pine Bluff, Arkansas from 1981-1988. He was ordained in May 1981 at the Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, where he was also licensed at the age of seventeen and baptized at the age of seven. Pastor Wiley graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1978 and attended Dallas Baptist College in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. He is the father of Madilyn Ellise' and Jarrett Ryan and has one grandson, Jarret Ryan Jr.
